Sailors have been relying on this spectacular historic landmark for generations. Now the Montauk Historical Society has taken over operation of the facility and converted it into a fantastic museum featuring a wide range of exhibits sure to be of interest to the entire family. Those who are up for the challenge will enjoy climbing the tower to look out the very top of the lighthouse. The Gift Shop is opened on a regular basis and has been moved in recent years so it may now be accessed without having to enter the museum grounds.
The Gosman's Dock complex is located within walking distance of the Sportsmans Dock and is home to several excellent seafood restaurants, each catering to a slightly different palate and budget. There are also some small shops where you can enjoy a leisurely afternoon strolling in the ocean breeze while browsing for a keepsake to remember your trip to Montauk or buy a gift for friends and family back home. The dock itself is accessible from the North side of the property (by the parking lot) and is an amazing vantage point to sit and watch the boats stream in and out of Montauk Harbor.
